If I were going to have more than one car, my daily driver would most likely be automatic. Driving manual is fun and all plus it can breathe more life into certain cars, but there’s nothing wrong with automatic cars either. For example, I would NOT have my A4 with an automatic transmission. But I WOULD have an S6 with an automatic transmission. But if a car does not have a manual transmission, such as a D2 S8 (USDM), I’d be perfectly happy with it. But if manual was an option on a particular car, I’d have it with manual, but if it didn’t I’d be perfectly fine with automatic.

are you saying you’d rather have an auto 599 over the manual because it’s a GT car you’re awful

More like, if manual was available, I’d have it with manual. But if manual was not available, then I would take it with automatic and be perfectly happy.

I’m not really a Ferrari fan, but the F12 with manual gated shifter would be pretty epic.

To tell the truth, I wouldn’t buy either of these two with a manual:

I think I’d want both hands on the wheel when flying around in one of these 2.

Now that automatics are less autotragic in that they have as many or more gears than their manual brethren, and thus can be more efficient and potentially stay within the powerband more precisely, there’s less of a stigma with them nowadays. Manuals certainly have their place, but I can’t really criticize anyone getting an automatic in most cars nowadays.

Unless it’s a Miata. Miatas should always be stick shift (unless the driver has some disability or something).

Agreed on the second part. Every time I see an automatic Miata, I cringe a little bit. Same goes for automatic vintage Porsches and sports cars in general.

Jalopnik and Oppo have made it where I didn’t even know the Miata could be had with an auto.

If I have an automatic, it HAS so have paddles, trucks notwithstanding. But I have gotten used to downshifting when I want.
